The Pistoccu it is a bread suitable for long preservation, made of durum wheat semolina, water, potato flakes, yeast and salt.

 

It can be eaten crunchy or moistened with water (only on the rough part or on both sides).


It is used to accompany cheeses, cured meats and meats, but is also excellent if spread with honey, jams or hazelnut spreadable cream. It is often used to absorb the cooking juices of stewed meat, such as sheep in coat.

 

The main difference with Pane Carasau is in the thickness, in fact Pane Pistoccu has a thickness of approximately 3-4 mm while Carasau is only 1 mm. Furthermore, Pistoccu is usually consumed after being wet while Carasau is usually consumed dry.
