" L' amaretto", in dialect " amarettos de mendula " or " almond amaretto ", is one of the most loved typical Sardinian sweets on the whole island.
Characteristics:
Similar versions of amaretto exist in other Italian regions, but they differ from the Sardinian amaretto in their appearance and the use of certain ingredients.
The base of this dessert is almonds, one of the most commonly used ingredients in Sardinian confectionery tradition.
This ingredient is what makes Sardinian amaretti different from other varieties, as Sardinian almonds have special characteristics, such as their low water content, which makes the final product unique.
Amaretto is characterized by:
- its hemispherical shape;
- It has a crackled and slightly crunchy crust that contrasts perfectly with the softness of the almond paste heart of the biscuit.
