Sardinian Asphodel Honey
It is a prized variety of single-flower honey obtained from the homonymous plant that grows widely in Sardinia. In addition to its widespread culinary uses, it has other uses. Let's discover its benefits and precious properties.
Asphodel, also known as Asfodillo, is a herbaceous, hardy, perennial plant belonging to the Liliaceae family that commonly grows in the garrigue of Sardinia, particularly in Barbagia, but can also be found in some areas of the Adriatic, such as Liguria, but also in Sicily and in mountainous areas (from 700 meters above sea level up to 1,800).

Sardinian Honey: Asphodel Flowers 500g
Asphodel honey is a very refined honey, perfect for pairing with a blue cheese like Ovinforth or Crablù. Its very fresh vegetal note balances the typical mossy and moldy smell of blue cheese, but it also works well with mild fresh cheeses and fruit yogurt. Asphodel honey is at its best in the classic "Aranzada" or in desserts made with whole or grated almonds, making any pairing exquisite without being cloying. Asphodel honey can be paired with sushi dishes, but it is also excellent with green tea, where it softens the tartness of the tea leaves without overpowering the flavor.
